Title: Eyes in the Pine
Location: Asheville, NC
About Me:
I'm a photo-shamanic journalist.
Here is my blog, Eyes in the Pine, an ongoing inquiry into the hidden side of Reality. The Other Side. The Feminine, for instance- so repressed, so shadowfied, that I do a lot of reporting on that, on Her. The Feminine being, of course, the Other Side of our culture, at least right now.
Hunter S. Thompson meets Lorretta Lynne meets John Muir meets Camile Paglia in a street-fight that gets sexy…..
Been on some interesting journeys. Along the way, took many
Motographs- trying to capture the 'spirit world' with my cheap cell phone locked into 'other side' mode mostly, and some from a real camera. I call these shots 'motos'. I've never been a photographer until quite recently when Nature spoke quite spontaneously to me, through me, on a good day.
I change contrast, brightness and color to highlite the pattern, the Soul of the Scene. But not fundamentally altered, composed, or retouched in any way. (a very few have been arranged, which will be obvious) What you see was there in real life. Whatever that is. I feel something, then look for it anywhere, sort of see something, snap a shot, and hilight the 'pattern', or spirit, that wants to be revealed.
I feel that the 'other side', 'Nature' -and I'm not sure how to define any of this- wants to speak to us through these images and many others. They want us to listen. Pay attention. I don't know what they want to say, but it feels important that they be heard, felt, seen…….
.
I'm playing in a Motown band and some other crazy improvs……….working on my singing a lot.
I've trod upon spiritual paths for many years. I have a M.A. in Buddhist-Western psychology from Naropa University. I'm also a professional astrologer, combining this with the enneagram.
BTW- My email address is Tharpa@gmail.com.
