King Bole mushroom under River Birch near the North Roaring Fork River, north of Asheville, North Carolina.
If there are such things as Fairies, they were damned close by- that's all I can say.........
The two Birches (can only see one here) are fused at the base (both capping an ancient stump from which this little guy sprouts) and then spreading apart above.
This scene was so fresh and raw and fertile it fairly made me want to skinny dip in the creek which I did and it was a fine day.
