Throwing up the Gauntlet

I've been trying to 'commercialize' EITP.  That's right.  Make it the kind of place that people could bring their own inner children, far-out fatty cousins, and outer uncles.  Even doppellganger girlfriends.....................

But I"ve been trying to sell something.  So I can get some, you know, money.

Not one.  I'm sitting here in my home studio- 24 beautiful frames up there- frames to be seen-  the oft-stated goal of posters, pamphlets, one line stuff, newspaper coverage, money-  all for the East of Asheville Studio Tour.

Yesterday I had, in a full day, 10 visitors.  8 leaving quite quickly.  1 stayed 3 hours.  (Thanks Cat!) None bought nothing.

So- I still haven't sold one moto.  Not one fucking shot.

Fine.  I know they're good, and frankly, it befunds me.  I think it's because they're sort of spooky, or something.  I know some of them have power, through me not of me, and well shit I don't know.  Almost don't care- my self esteem is weathering the insult of spending a ton of money getting into this show, and having not one sale.  Although there is today, but I'm rooting nobody buys one.  One doesn't mean much, and none puts me in a strange category, which I like.  How many artists who do good work can't sell one thing?

How 'bout me and fucking Vincent Van Gogh is who.  Hah!  Buy a shot for 50 bucks and bust my ego-trip!!!

See- I'll try anything!

I increasingly am letting go of that ship.  Let her go down, while I sing and dance and play the guitar, and let EITP get much stranger instead of holding it to a more accessible vibe.

So, this blog, after 7 months of a completely silent and constant readership, small and steady, is going weirder.  I"ve had it with trying to be popular. Enjoy it if you'd like, hope you will- I'll just be writing for my own amusement and stop trying to save the world.  Too late anyway!  Save my soul instead, seriously.

LOLove  people- and if your in the Asheville area you've got exactly 8 hours to check out this fine array, and I'm proud of them even if I never sell one- and no, Mom, sorry but your sale doesn't count!  Thanks though!
